Japji Sahib is a universal sacred prayer composed by Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith. The Japji Sahib consists of the Mool Mantra in the beginning followed by 38 hymns and ending with a final Salok or couplet. The Japji appears at the very beginning of the Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Book of the Sikhs.

The Japji is considered to be the epitome of the Sikh doctrine. It is a morning prayer in the Nitnem, the Sikh prayer collection. Japji lays stress on the
brotherhood of man and remembrance of God
as the key to salvation.
